I first bought Red River Cereal. It was great. I have now re-bought Red River Cereal as well as 8 Grains Cereal and am not disappointed.
Great to have it delivered to the door.....I cook porridge everyday, breakfast is basically my largest meal and Red River cereal is always part of that meal (mixed with porridge oats, extra flax seeds and steel cut oats, plus a little salt, always using a double boiler-pot).
Red river has been my go to breakfast cereal for a lot of years. I was heart broken when they disappeared from my grocery shelf but thankful when I found it online. I just received 3 bags last week.
Red River cereal is intergenerational for me. Introduced by my grandfather and still a morning must have.
I missed your hot cereal for several years. It had been a winter breakfast favorite of mine for decades, but after Smuckers took the product and moved production to the US, it just wasn't the same.
Last year my son found Arva and Red River Cereal online and shipped me 3 bags. He had wanted to see if his 2 year old daughter would like it: she loved it, as did I .
I'm so glad I was able to reconnect with Arva and your great cereal.
Two quick observations:
*If preparing a single serving, I found 1/3 cup of Red River to 1 cup cold water worked well.
*When heating for 12-14 minutes, bring to a boil gently. We have an induction cooktop. This approach worked far better than bringing to a boil on "boost", and then turning heat down and starting timing.
