Very similar to what I ate as a child in the 1950s. Probably ground finer so that it cooks quicker. Luckily I saved the recipe for Date and Nut Loaf that used to be printed on the side of the box. Perhaps that recipe could be put on the website. The loaf is moist and delicious. I bought in quantity so I could share with my children as they grew up with it too.
Love Red River cereal. The 5 bag option with no shipping charge is a good value.
I was looking for a place in Canada that had a proven history behind it and in Arva that’s exactly what I found. The communication, the quality, the prices and the Canadian origin are all exceptional. The only thing I would look into as a company is the shipping company. I received my order in one box (and it was quite a bit) but the box looked like it had a rough journey. The top had clearly come open during shipping as it was taped with the shipping company tape but not well. You could actually see inside the box as the tape stuck to one side but not the other. I totally get that the box was heavy and that it probably came open during transport but maybe it should be in a sturdier box. This in NO way affected my product and in NO way do I have blame for anyone. Just a little FYI for Arva, so they can review shipment quality. Thanks again, and I will be a return customer!
I purchased the 7 grain hot cereal for my parents, but decided to order one bag for me too. I am not a huge fan of hot cereal, but enjoyed quick oats in the past. I am very pleasantly surprised that this cereal tastes really good and it’s made well. Arva Flour Mills is maintaining the tradition of putting great quality ingredients in our bowls. Thank you for that team Arva!
Great Red River Cereal
