Key Responsibilities
Production
- Assist with operating milling equipment and packaging product; monitor process parameters and adjust machinery to meet production schedules and targets.
- Blend and package bakery mixes according to established recipes.
Maintenance
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, basic mechanical troubleshooting, and coordinate repairs with the maintenance team.
Sanitation
- Carry out cleaning procedures for equipment and work areas to meet food-safety and GMP standards.
- Participate in scheduled deep-clean cycles.
Inventory
- Receive and inspect raw materials; track on-site inventory levels.
- Rotate stock using FIFO; prepare material requisitions and usage logs.
Shipping & Receiving
- Load and unload trucks; verify and document shipments and deliveries.
- Prepare outgoing orders and shipping paperwork.
Quality Control
- Sample, inspect, and test product at key process steps; record quality data.
- Follow corrective actions when specifications are not met.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workplace safety, food-safety (including allergen controls), and environmental procedures.
- Report hazards and incidents promptly.
Recordkeeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production, sanitation, maintenance, and QC logs.
- Assist with shift handovers and daily production reports.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Other Duties
- Support cross-functional tasks as required during busy periods or staff shortages.
Qualifications
- Experience — Experience in milling, grain processing, manufacturing, agriculture, or a related industrial role is preferred but not required. We welcome motivated candidates eager to learn the trade.
- Technical Skills — Familiarity with mechanical equipment, conveyors, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Food Safety Knowledge — Understanding of GMPs, HACCP principles, or other food-safety systems is an asset.
- Physical Requirements — Able to lift up to 25 kg regularly, stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work in dusty or temperature-variable environments.
- Certifications — Forklift licence and milling certificates are assets.
- Personal Attributes — Strong attention to detail, good communication, dependable, team-oriented, and a proactive problem-solver.
