This granola is a go-to in our Miller’s Mom’s kitchen—simple, hearty, and just sweet enough.
Ingredients
-
4 cups rolled oats
-
1 cup sliced almonds
-
1 cup chopped pecans
-
1 cup raw sunflower seeds
-
⅓ cup canola oil
-
½ cup honey
-
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 cup dried cranberries
Directions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 C)
Stir oats, almonds, pecans and sunflower seeds together in a large bowl.
Mix oil, honey, cinnamon and vanilla together in a smaller bowl.
Pour over dry ingredients and mix well. Spread mixture onto two ungreased baking sheets.
Bake in the preheated oven until golden, about 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. (Author likes to have clumps in their granola so she puts on rubber gloves and and pinches mixture into bunches while it’s still hot)
Add cranberries once out of the oven.
Cool completely before storing.
Recipe Note
- Substituting vegetable oil for canola oil is okay
- Substituting roasted sunflower seeds for raw also works well
- Pumpkin seeds might be a nice add for a pop of colour and flavour
- Cranberries sweetened with apple juice, while a bit odd tasting on their own works great in this granola recipe
