I have a hard time finding dark rye flour, but Arva always comes thru. And I never have an issue with taste or quality
I missed your hot cereal for several years. It had been a winter breakfast favorite of mine for decades, but after Smuckers took the product and moved production to the US, it just wasn't the same.
Last year my son found Arva and Red River Cereal online and shipped me 3 bags. He had wanted to see if his 2 year old daughter would like it: she loved it, as did I .
I'm so glad I was able to reconnect with Arva and your great cereal.
Two quick observations:
*If preparing a single serving, I found 1/3 cup of Red River to 1 cup cold water worked well.
*When heating for 12-14 minutes, bring to a boil gently. We have an induction cooktop. This approach worked far better than bringing to a boil on "boost", and then turning heat down and starting timing.
Made in Insta-pot turns out great every time, about 1/2 hr total time.
Am so very happy you have the rights to Red River Cereal, missed it for several years, and now am able to enjoy a childhood favourite. Thank you.

I just made your Arva Flour Mill Beer Bread Jalapeño Cheddar. The bread cooked just fine in the time and temperature stated and had a golden top. We were disappointed that the bread had such a high sugar content compared to similar, jalapeño cheddar beer bread recipes online. We certainly found the sugar taste excessive. Additionally we couldn't taste the cheese or the jalapeño. We could, however, taste the baking powder. We won't finish eating this bread loaf.
So, I write this accordingly. I didn't do something I should have because my bread didn't work out. I assume it's the baker, not the product. I love the idea of Red Fife and will continue to try to figure this out. I'm not a killed sourdough bread maker and still learning. I have confidence in this local mill and local product. I feel good about that. And the customer service is terrific and supportive.
I did something wrong and I'm sure it's not the flour. My sourdough was hard as a rock although tasted good. I will persevere. I'm happy to buy from a local mill with local ingredients and a healthier profile. They are also great with answering questions and quick shipping. Only a 4 because I can't say for sure how this is compared to all purpose.
I bought a bag of the white to try, and baked a cake with it today. The results were absolutely wonderful, and I cannot wait to try it again in something else. For anyone reading reviews who is on the fence: do it. Buy the flour, you will not regret it.
I just made the garlic Parmesan. I went to cut it, and it was just falling apart even though the bread is extremely moist, doesn’t look cooked. I cannot even slice it. My oven is running the right time as I tested it not too long ago. Followed the instructions to a T. I have now put it back in the oven to see if maybe it needs to cook a little longer. What is the secret to it being cooked all the way, and not falling apart. I wanted to love this.
Red River Cereal is now and has always been one of the 2 best breakfast cereals available. This deal is just too good to pass up if you believe as I do that this cereal is one of the healthiest breakfast choices you can make. There is nothing better than Red River Cereal with yogurt and some fruit like dried cranberries, raisins or blueberries.
Am very happy to be able to purchase Red River Cereal again.
We eat it as a hot cereal and add it to no-knead bread recipes.
